This group of medals was awarded to Private Thomas G. Aller.

Private Aller was with Company C of the 14th New York Volunteer Infantry.

He was from Hog Island PA and enlisted at Camp Black New York on May 13, 1898.

He was mustered out October 27, 1898 in Brooklyn, New York having served just over five month of active duty.

He was 44 at the time of his entry into service, which may have contributed to his short duration of service.

The Army Spanish War Service Medal is numbered 6481 on the rim, and is tracable through records to Private Aller.

The New York State Volunteers Medal is numbered 9225 on the back of the broach.

The United Spanish War Veterans Medal is numbered 1456 on the back of the lower suspension arm.

The United Spanish War Veterans Medal was issued to members of the "United Spanish War Veterans."

Anyone who served in the armed forces during the Spanish American War or during the Philippine insurrection was eligible for membership.

The serial numbers on this medal are not traceable.
