Hello Fellows!

Just found this site- looks like the beginnings of a great place to discuss militaria!

I'm primarily into British stuff, 1860-1914 but am also interested very much in French stuff of about the same time-frame. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good dealers of French militaria? Looking for several items and having no luck!

Thanks!!

Guys,

Joe and Christophe, thanks both of you for the welcome. These militaria forums are generally full of pretty decent and friendly types!

Christophe, I am looking for many things and I thank you for asking. Currently, a Mle. 1893 knapsack, Mle. 1874 Zouave 'guetres-jambieres' in black or dark-blue cloth (depending on what source you believe.) re-enforced with leather. I know the guetres-jambieres are nearly non-existent but one can hope...

The boucle de ceinture 1892 (I believe that's correct), common pre-1915 and the pelle-pioche with helve.

I am working on two pre-1915 impressions to share the same basics accoutrements: French 151e and 3rd Zouaves.

Many Thanks,
Clint

WOW!!!

you are not looking for very common items!!!!! i collect french militaria for many years and even in France those items are very very hard to find especially" guêtres jambières" for zouaves

it's easy to find 1893 knapsacks BUT they are generally post 1915( they are green or tan) for a pre 1915 "PIOU PIOU" you need a black one which difficult to find especially in good condition

the pelle pioche it's the same problem especially its helve( be very careful with fakes !!!)

IF you need information about prices........

for dealers i don't know WEBsites, in Paris there's " LE POILU"
