Hi Peiper,

I think you have a very wonderful haube, its a haube belonging to Oldenburg infantry Regiment 91, thats a rare unit, Oldenburg was a tiny state and was absorbed into Prussia. The grand duchy of Oldenburg had only a single infantry regt, the 91, and it served with the Prussian X Armee Corps. 1219.gif

The Oldenburg Infantry Regt 91 used a Prussian Eagle Line Infantry wappen BUT with an additional Oldenburg coat of arms crest infront of the eagle.
Check out Tony's cool site, he has a 1867 Oldenburg haube, pls note the wappen:
http://www.kaisersbunker.com/dunkelblau/helmets/dbh02.htm
The other states that used the Prussian wappen but with their state coat of arms crest like the Oldenburg were the Rgt 92 (Duchy of Braunschweig--GASP!), the Rgt 93 (The Duchy of Anhalt), Rgt 94 (The Grand Duchy of Sachen-Weimar), Rgt 95 (The Duchies of Sachen Coburg Gotha or the Thuringen Inf Rgt 95), the Rgt 96 (The Principalities of Reuss...).
Of all those Rgt, only the 91 that has the motto "mit Gott fur KOENIG und Vaterland" just like the Prussian Line Wappen, the 92-96 Rgts used "Mit Gott fur FUERST.....)

Note that Tony's haube also has the OIR 91 marking, well, the german used both "I" and 'J' to denotes INFANTRIE or JNFANTRIE

But yours has a standard Prussian M15 wappen, which was quite common during wartime for practical and efficient reason.
Is the rear visor original to the body? Would you pls PM me with more detailed pics abt the rear visor? Pls check out the stichings, are there any alterations or whatsoever? And is there any slight different in the color?

Pls check if the wappen is also original to the body? Are there any extra holes on the haube itself? What abt the Prussian wappen, pls post more pics of the wappen.

The circular mark is the maker's mark, can you read them? If you can, we will know which firm made the helmet body.

The Mark under the picture. Prussian one is some sort of BKA Mark. I think this one to say BJA, which would indicate a repair. The letter F. I believe is a sure sign of repair, the front visor appears to be loose.
I am really curious abt the rear visor, pls PM me with more pics.

You have a very wondeful and unique helmet, there are lots and lots of Prussian regt, but there was ONLY ONE Oldenburg Infantry Regt 91.

Congratulations! exct0006.gif cheers.gif

Hope this helps and full of jealousy.. bash.gif 00009176.gif
