I have been asked by a friend to I.D. these...I have no idea on the plaque and not sure of the helmet...area etc.
These are all the photos I have...can you guys tell me what it is supposed to be and any idea what the plaque is?

I don't know about the plaque,but the helmet appears to be a model
1895 Wurttenberg.I can't find the unit info though.Here is the link where I found a similar one.Hope this helps

Yes, I agree with Rob, the haubeis a 100% repro. And yes, its supposed to be a Wurttemberg wappen.

I have not seen a repro haube before,so I never even considered it.After Robs' post I went back and compared it to the one on the haube sight,and there are alot of subtle differences in detail on the front plate and the shape of the spike.

After looking at the pictures on the site for the last 30 minutes,I am also inclined to believe it might be a repro as well.

Rob is right, when we have one of these original haubes, we can detect the repros right away.

Here are some pics of my Wurttemberg EM haube, the liner is still intact.
Pls compare it with Fred's repro, the differences are striking and obvious.

I have no idea at all abt 3rd Reich stuffs. I have never collected any of the items, tho I love to read the stories.

reproductions are getting better and better, which is worrying, some of them are just plainly good, imagine if these stuffs are already these good, what will happen to the same repro stuffs if they were to be kept, say, for another 40 years? Will they pass for the real stuffs?

I really belive that we need to read lots and lots of references and ask around, and if we are lucky, perhaps attend some shows where legit and reputable haubes dealers and/or owners arranged their stuffs.

Like this guy for example, check out his wappen section, man, some of them are very good! The guy is honest, he plainly explains that his stuffs are repros, but not all dealers are that honest, especially on ebay....

And there is this polish dealer who made some nice repro wappens and he is honest by describing them as repros.

It came with an Eagle and the spike base but not the cruciform spike and its in need of restoration but for £140 I cant complain .I shall take some pics and start a new thread .Rob.
