Hi Peiper,
Iam so sorry for the late reply, I am out of town right now.
It seems that you are always bump into very interesting haubes, the Oldenburg, the Wurtt stell and now this, a unique ersatz.
Your haube is a good example on how the war had its impact on the german economy. as The term ersatz means substitude, hence the germans ended up putting whatever materials thay can get hold of as they are becoming scarcer.
BUt the most common is explanation is that, the filz/felt helmet was issued and it was returned to the depor again for repair, and the depot had no felt visor to do it and would just attached anything that fits, including a laether visor, but usually there are marked with a depot mark of the Bekleidings Instandsetung BJA, does your has any mark?
Its not uncommon to find such a mizture of ersatz haube, I dont have it,but my friiend's have them. Your haube looks original, only the non EM kokarden that puzzles me, those are officer's kokarden, not EM. Which is very weird.
The liner is intact, which is very neat. The brass trimmings are nice, too.
Here are some examples of my friends' Filz helmet which are identical with yours.
Hope this helps,
Mush

Btw, what abt yr rear visor, is it also leather or felt material?
