Hi guys, =hug.gif

Here is the age old debate, some collectors opted for officers' haubes, which is due to the nature that officers' must buy their own headgear and uniform, hence their haubes are of much higher quality than EM (enlisted man's issued helmet).

Whereas there are some collectors who opted for EM, especially a fully marked EM haube (depot mark, garnitur mark, regt mark etc are present), the reason is because an EM haube have so much history, as the marks will tell, when was the helmet issued, when was it returned for repair etc. An EM haube is more 'honest'. But due to the nature of issued helmet or crown property, well, mass product stuffs is of course of lesser quality than private purchase or officers'.

Lets hear your opinion and pls post yr haubes pics, too 00009176.gif

Hi guys! =hug.gif

Hahahahaha, yes, most EM is definately cheaper than most officers. But some EM, llike the Rgt 92 (Duchy of Braunschweig), the one with the totenkoph skull, is far more expensive than a line Prussian officer's haube tho.

I will post the pics when I returned, i am still out of town rite now. There is this saxon EM M15 that I am 'eyeing', hmmmmm........ 3e5fa72d.gif

hapy0003.gif Yes, Jerry, like you, I want them all, too, but they are sooooo expensive now. And there are so many fakes and put together haubes.

Well, as for me, at first I tended to collect EM, infact, my first haube was a EM, a 25th Rgt haube with matching cover. But after several trade and wasting my money bash.gif , I found myselfhaving more officers' haube than EM. I guess the beauty and the high quality craftmanship that bedazzled me..... bash.gif but those are not some special or elite rgt officers haube tho....those elite or unique haubes wll be very costly, even findng an EM will be a winner for me.....

What abt you, guys?

Cheers,
Mush

Well I dont actively collect Haubes they just sort of appear . But I like the "been in the trenches and souvenireed look" which usually applies to ORs helmets ,and anything other than basic is quite pricey .Rob. cheers.gif
