Hi guys,

I have been very busy lately, what a hectic life!
Wow, those repros are getting better, they even added crazing to the shell! and check out the liner, those guys are really doing everything to make it looks original and old, like using an old leather for the liner.
But I have to admit that he is doing one heck of a great job in making the liner!
The most striking feature that this is a fake haube is the brass trimmings.

Cheers,
Mush

If anything, it looks like a parts helmet. are you sure the leather except for the chinstrap which is an obvious repro, is not real. The Kockades look real, only the brass looks bad, polished or repro ??
ROBB
Definitely a repo ,do search for the seller militarybargainsuk on ebay he usually has about 10 fake ones like this for sale .Its a mad crazy world out there in Pickelhaube land so post before you buy .Rob.

They're really pumping these out aren't they?
musashi
Yes, Rob, its a crazy world out there, it seems that the fakers know that picklehaubes are in great demand and they could fetch very nice price, hence they are pumping out these fakes.
And I agree with rob, pls post the haubes before you buy.

Here is a pic of a repro liner done very nicely, but the restorer is an honest man, he stated that these are repros. there is another pic of a repro liner that he did, and its AMAZING! will try to find the pic and post it.

Hope this helps,
Mush

Here they are guys! Check it out! And he took a painful amount of time to do it, nt to think the stiches he received in doin it.

When the liner is lifted, we could see the stiches. This is a superb craftmanship.

hope this helps,
Mush

Hello,
I must admit these are very nice repro liners. Useful when you want to restore a haube (I'm not a big fan of the restoration, but others have different feelings about that).
Concerning the first fake they are getting vert hard to tell from pics. But I don't think could fool a average experienced collector "'in the flesh"
Cheers from New Caledonia.

But if you had no idea they were being faked you probably would fall for these creations,Rob.

Hi guys,

Yes, these repros are getting better, infact there is a guy who even added a BA mark on his repros, but he was honest enuff to tell the buyer, but then again, would the next buyer tell that to the next next buyer?

There was a collector who said, " I dont like having a 100 plus years old haube with a Times New Roman letterings."

For those who has an ersatz haube ( I dont have one), pls compare the liner with the repros pics that I posted, I think we cant really tell the difference.

But as Phil said, perhaps, jez perhaps, we could tell the difference when we see it in flesh.

But again, we will probably fall for these creations, darn....high demand, high amount of copiers.

Cheers,
Mush
