Hi gang,

Check this out! A friend of mine, a Mr D, is a hardcore and a very knowledgable haubes collector, and he is very kind to give me permission to post this pic of his haubes collection.
And these are just 60 % of his collection, the rest of the haubes are being displayed in mannequins with MATCHING TUNIC!
And he doesn’t just collect any haubes, all of them are marked to a certain regt/unit belonging to a specific unit, and they are hard to find stuffs, stuffs that I can only dream abt, darn…
He has almost everything ( I cant even define the term ‘almost’ in this case),let me try to identify his collection 00009176.gif .

Top row, all the ersatx haubes, including 2 tins ersatz haubes on far right.

2nd row are Arty haubes, Hessen , dragoons, JzPs, tscapkas (one with parade plume and the fangscnur cord) and even a 1867 Kurassier metalhelm next to the 1897 Kurassier metalhelm.

3rd row are tschakos (is that a landwehr tschako, 2nd from left?), 1867 and older haubes. Like the tall conical haube in the middle row, that’s a pre 1860 Prussian haube.
4th row, far left, now that’s a 1867 Sachen Riter Rgt Raupenhelm marked to the Sachen Reiter Rgt Nmr 1, Dresden, XII Armee Korps eek.gif ! The rare Saxon jaeger tscako, Wurttemberg Pioneer, more Wurtts, Baden with haarbusch/parade bush and more Baden

5th Row, all the M15 haubes, artys, another M15 Saxon Jaeger tschakos with parade plume, tscapkas, Hussar’s Busby, baden, wurtt and even a M15 Hessen arty!!:drool2:
Even describing his collection alone is a already thrill for me, and these are just 60 %, there are more haubesbeing displayed with matching tunics. And he still has row and rows of visor caps (shrimmutze), WW I german helmets etc. Looking at his collection is like learning haubes in one sitting thumbsup.gif

Hmm, I think I will ask him to adopt me! hapy0003.gif 393d3709.gif

Enjoy and cheers,

Jaw dropping! Is this fellow Marshal Daux and did he do some video tapes on Field gray uniforms of Imperial Germany by any chance? Just curious. Stunning, comprehensive collection with such top drawer examples. Thanks Mush.

Hi gang,

Yes, he has an incredible collection of haubes, he actually also collects WWI iron crosses and i think he has a number of them, too. But haubes are his primary interest and passion and he has an incredible indept knowledge abt it, too. Upon seeing his collection will result in what I would refer as synchronized jaw dropping hapy0003.gif

And all of his haubes are in the prime condition, darn, i will ask him to adopt me! hug.gif

Robert, no, he is not Marshall Daux and i dont think he did any video abt WWI.
Thomas, yes, I think thats a 1842 prussian haube. Even the 1867 Sachen Riter Rgt Raupenhelm marked to the Sachen Reiter Rgt Nmr 1, Dresden, XII Armee Korps itself is already very rare, the helmet was used by the Saxon heavy cavalry for only a certain period, hence its rare and.....'gulp'...expensivo. 00009176.gif

Its haube learning in one sitting... 00009176.gif

Hi gang,

Well, I think he has been collecting those haubes for around 18-10 years perhaps? Infact, at first he started collecting Third reich's stuffs, then he sold them all and begun collecting seriously imperial german stuffs, haubes and tunic mostly.

Boy, even his TR stuffs were amazing. Saw some of the pics sometime ago.
Yes, tyrulewar, i think it would be nice to post the pic in the MCF militaria show, he will sweep the imperial section clean LoL

Cheers,

Hi Phil,

So sorry for the late reply, guys, will be able to be online more often from next month onwards, well, been very hectic with work 00009176.gif

Yes, Mr D is still very much into haubes collecting, and he has a very specific aim in collecting haubes.

He only collect those haubes with proper depot and Rgt mark, and boy, he is very good at it.

He is looking for some very hard to find haubes/tscpkas/tscakos now. Like the
Sachen Riter Rgt Raupenhelm marked to the Sachen Reiter Rgt Nmr 1, Dresden, XII Armee Korps, the 1842 Prussian haubes and even a Jaeger MANOUVER tscako! i didnt even know that there is such thing as a manouver tscako and haubes!
It turns out that during maouver, most officers didnt wear their usual nice looking pvt purchase haubes, instead, they wore a wappenless and simple haubes, well, perhaps its the wisest way to avoid having your expensive pvt purchase haubes from being trampled/soaked by rain. Its only a manouver anyway, not a parade, so why risked it hapy0003.gif LoL, thats only my thought tho.

Cheers,

Hmmm,

I think the 4th row,3rd tschako from left, is the manouver tschako. Just read some refences, the manouver tschako is made from oil cloth, its waterprof perhaps? And it has no wappen at all.
As for manouver haube, i think they are made from cork, hence its much lighter, and again they were for manouver, why risked spoiling yr expensive pvt purchase haube?

Hope this helps,
Mush
