Hi all,

there is a Hannoveranian Garde du Corps Haube on Ebay. Looks good from a first glance, but I´m not sure. Black colour inside could be a repaint, the seller says.
I´m not sure about the brass rim.

Would like to hear the thoughts of the fellow members here.

Thanks in advance !

Hi Jerry,

Thats an interesting item, I have been browsing some books and references but could nt find any reference of a Hannoverian Kurassier Rgt, let alaone the Hannoverian GdC, perhaps I checked at the wrong books or have nt checked hard enough. I could be very wrong here.

The helmet is of the older version type, perhaps 1867 or even older type.
Could there be a Hannoverian Kurassier/GdC rgt during that period (pre 1867) and was absorbed in later years by the Prussian Army? Like their Infantry Rgt counterparts, they were absorbed into the Prussian Army, wore the Prussian eagle wappen and only the kokarden showed that they were hannoverian.

Will check again and let you know.

Cheers,
Mush

Hi Rob,

Thats neat, is it possible to scan the jan Kube's book and post them?
Is there any caption abt the helmet in the book?

Cheers,

Hi guys,
thanks for the input ! Of course there was a Hannoveranian Garde du Corps before the kingdom of Hannover was occupied by the prussians in 1866.

I really would love to have a Hanoveranian GdC helmet, but they are very very rare. It would be a risk to buy one in ebay. Seller gives two weeks return privilege, but just in case the helmet isn´t original. How to prove that ?
However the last helmet I´ve seen was in an auction at the Hannoveranian castle Marienburg. They fetched easily over $20k ! Of course with a noble provenance.
For me they are the desirable helmets of all.

Thank you very much for your help !
