Check this out, guys.
A cork manouver haube! I once read that officers, I dunno abt EM, would used this cork maouver haube instead of their regular haube during manouver, the reason is simple, to avoid spoiling yr expensive pvt purchase haube.
I am really curious abt the liner. And what abt the wappen, if I didnt realize that its a monouver cork haube, I sworn that its an uberzug covered regular haube.
I am curious abt the spike and the cruciform spike base, are they also made of cork??
Even the kokarden and the rosettes are cork!
But at Euro 3500, thats just toooooo much.
Cheers,
Mush

Damn...that is a lulu! Never seen one though familiar with ersatz mentality during WWI...this helmet takes it to a different level! What a great piece.
Robert
PS...this helmet has a 'photoshop' look to it...is it a bogus shot?

Hi robert,
Yes, this one is pretty rare, I dont think we could easily spot one of these in the period pics, they just look so identical with an uberzug covered haube, and these are nt considered erzatz as in substitute due to the shortage of leather, I guess these are optional helmets.
I cant tell if the pics have been 'photoshoped' or not, but those hardcre haube collectors own a "Lighthouse" photo studio thing, I cant remember the full name, yes, after taking the pics, they photoshoped the background area, and the end result is fascinating.
I cant post their pics without their permission, unfortunately.
Cheers,
Mush

http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayIS...em=180026742699This is the second time I see this double headed eagle Russian helmet. It closely resembles the Prussian GdC, will post the pics in the Russian pickelhaube thread.
