Hi rosenberg,

I am sosorry for the late reply, was very busy.
Yours is a Prussian Dragoon haube, but some of the parts are very confusing.
It has a pvt purchase wappen, which only officers, One Year Volunteers and other ranks (mostly NCOs) who had the ability to buy them, yet, it has the EM/issued visor trims, and it has the officer's pattern pearling on the neck of the spike, and it has the officer double ring on the spike itself.
The kokarden, however, are EM, and the chinscale bosses are also EM.

Yet, the wappen appears to have been there a long time, obvious by the 'shadow'. Is there any extra holes on the shell.

Its a mixture of EM (issued) and Pvt Purcahse (officers) haube, but I will have to check again, btw, the liner is also issued/EM, and, uhmm, the drawstring is definately nt original 00009176.gif

The rear spine is also pvt purchase type, nt EM.
Could this be a One Year Volunteer's haube?

Cheers,
Mush

No problem at all with the timing of reply-thanks for it!
I am away from the piece till the end of the week,I am afraid I canīt look any earlier for the holes.I have no idea about the haube,I got with no further clue of its origin,I am sorry.

Regards

ROBB
The leather on one side of the chinstrap looks new as does the rear peak ,perhaps its a parts helmet ,that might explain the mixture of bits .Rob

Hi Rosenberg,

Rob is absolutely correct on this one, I had my suspicion, but I cheked with the guru/great master themselves, and yes, its a Frankenstein helmet!

Its absically an EM haube, but was slapped with some pvt purchase/officer parts, perhaps this helmet was done long time ago (as long as in the 1930s), hence it does looks old, with the shadow of the wappen imprinted on the shell.

Stay away from it, unless its really really cheap, perhaps you can convert it again to the original EM form haube.

Hope this helps,
Mush
